LeeWay tolls and sticker transponders
Set up the right toll account before crossing Lee County’s toll bridges regularly. A properly mounted transponder and current vehicle information can help avoid pay-by-plate administrative fees.

Three local toll crossings
Lee County uses all-electronic tolling. Drivers may use a compatible transponder account or receive a pay-by-plate invoice. Lee County currently adds a $3 administrative fee to each pay-by-plate toll.
Free with a qualifying prepaid LeeWay account
Open an account
Provide the vehicle, license plate and payment information and establish the required prepaid balance. Outstanding Lee County pay-by-plate amounts must be resolved before issuance.
Receive the sticker
Lee County says a mini sticker transponder is free for each vehicle added to the account. Other transponder types may carry a charge and motorcycles require a compatible hard-case or bumper unit.
Mount it permanently
Follow the supplied windshield-placement instructions. The sticker is assigned to a specific vehicle and should not be moved between vehicles.
Keep the account current
Maintain a positive balance and update license plates, vehicles, addresses and payment-card information promptly.
Crossing Cape Coral, Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach
Bridge location can strongly affect commuting, beach travel and seasonal drive times. The basic toll applies only in the collection direction described below; verify the current rate and vehicle class before traveling.
Cape Coral Bridge
Cape Coral Parkway ↔ College ParkwayThe southern crossing between Cape Coral and Fort Myers. The published no-transponder base toll for a standard two-axle vehicle is currently $2 in the tolled direction.
Often convenient for southeast and portions of southwest Cape Coral.Midpoint Memorial Bridge
Veterans Parkway ↔ Colonial BoulevardThe central crossing between Cape Coral and Fort Myers. The published no-transponder base toll for a standard two-axle vehicle is currently $2 in the tolled direction.
Often useful for central and northern Cape Coral travel.Sanibel Causeway
McGregor Boulevard ↔ Sanibel IslandThe causeway provides road access to Sanibel. The published no-transponder base toll for a standard two-axle vehicle is currently $6 when traveling toward the island.
Allow extra time during peak visitor periods, holidays and beach-event days.Matanzas Pass Bridge
San Carlos Boulevard ↔ north Fort Myers BeachThis is the principal northern entrance to Estero Island near Times Square. There is no bridge toll, but congestion and limited island parking can materially increase travel time.
Also called the Fort Myers Beach Sky Bridge.Big Carlos Pass Bridge
Estero Boulevard ↔ Lovers Key / Bonita BeachThis southern approach connects Fort Myers Beach with Lovers Key and Bonita Beach. There is no bridge toll. Construction conditions or lane changes should be checked before travel.
A useful alternative approach depending on origin and traffic. There are no cash booths on Lee County’s toll bridges. A compatible transponder charges the account; otherwise the registered owner generally receives a pay-by-plate invoice with applicable administrative charges.
Ask the rental company how tolls are processed. Its convenience or administrative charges may be significantly higher than the underlying toll.
One working transponder, one accurate vehicle record
Do not stack transponders
Lee County warns motorists to use only one transponder while passing its toll plazas to reduce the risk of duplicate charges.
Do not ignore plate changes
An incorrect or expired plate record can cause video tolls, added fees or a vehicle-registration stop.
Know where it works
LeeWay is accepted on designated Florida toll facilities and selected compatible networks. Seasonal or interstate travelers should confirm the current compatibility list.
Discount plans are separate
A transponder and prepaid account do not automatically enroll the customer in every optional LeeWay discount program. Compare the current program cost with expected travel.
Rates and the $3-per-toll pay-by-plate administrative fee were reviewed September 14, 2026.
